These terms cover your use of the Ration Book app. By downloading or using the app, you agree to them.
What Ration Book is
Ration Book is a household preparedness app for iPhone. It helps you plan, track and check a store of food, water and other supplies based on publicly available GOV.UK guidance, and gives you offline access to local information and practical guides.
Not official guidance, and not a guarantee
Ration Book is an independent app, not affiliated with, endorsed by, or in any way officially connected with the UK Government, GOV.UK or any of its departments. It is based on publicly available guidance, curated and presented in a practical form — it is not a substitute for official advice during an actual emergency, and it does not guarantee your household's safety or preparedness. Always follow guidance from the emergency services, your local authority and GOV.UK during a real incident.
The "days sorted" figure, checklist targets, and any other estimate the app shows are calculated from the information you provide and general assumptions about household needs. They are a planning aid, not a precise or certified measurement.
Medical and survival content
Where the app includes medical or survival reference material, it is provided for general informational purposes only and is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. In a medical emergency, call 999 (or 112).
Purchases
Ration Book is sold as a one-off purchase through the App Store. There is no subscription. Purchases are processed by Apple and are subject to Apple's own terms and refund policies, not ours.
Your responsibilities
- Use the app for its intended purpose: household planning and preparedness.
- Keep the information you enter (household size, inventory) reasonably accurate — the app's figures are only as good as what you put in.
- Don't attempt to reverse engineer, resell, or redistribute the app or its content.
Availability
The app is designed to work offline once set up, but features that require a connection (postcode lookup, barcode lookup) depend on third-party services we don't control and may occasionally be unavailable.
Limitation of liability
Ration Book is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the app, including reliance on its checklist, inventory estimates, local information, or guide content, during an actual emergency or otherwise.
Changes
We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated terms. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
